While wet food is more expensive than biscuits, it has a host of benefits, especially for older cats.

Moisture

Some cats love to drink water but older kitties may be a bit slow on their paws. Wet food is an easy way to make sure they’re properly hydrated. Liquid helps prevent urinary tract issues and supports overall kidney function. Some wet food comes in juice, some in jelly, but they are all good.

Smell and taste

Dehydrated astronaut food may be good for you it’s boring. Wet food comes packed with flavour. It also smells exciting, which is useful for older cats whose sense of smell is declining.

Easy

Given the high moisture content, wet food is soft, making it easier to break down in the stomach and intestines. This helps older cats with sensitive tummies.

Softer on gums

Older cats may have sensitive gums, making biscuits hard to eat. Wet food comes in chunks, shredded and in pate form and they make eating easier.
