PETALING JAYA: A social media influencer pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court here on Thursday (Jan 8) to a charge of hitting a fast food restaurant worker.

Nalinee Kothandabani, 41, who works as an IT engineer, was accused of intentionally causing hurt to Rani Arumugam, 45, by hitting the victim, a disabled person, at the restaurant in Serdang Raya, Seri Kembangan.

The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries up to one year's jail or a fine, or both, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Syed Ahmed Khabir Abdul Rahman offered bail at RM5,000 in one surety.

However, Nalinee's lawyer Dinesh Muthal sought RM500 bail on the grounds that his client is the sole breadwinner of her family.

“My client lives in Johor Baru and she has given her cooperation to the police during the investigation.

“She came to court herself to face the charges today," Dinesh said.
